Excursion to Montemonaco, between chestnuts and autumn colours.
It is difficult to find chestnut trees in Marche but in Montemonaco there are secular chestnut trees which find here their suitable habitat.  They are surrounded by the fairy-tale scenery of the Sibillini Mountains. Monte Sibilla rises just in front of the village.

In these magical places you can live the wonderful experience of gathering chestnuts. Every year the maturation of this autumn fruit is celebrated with a festival which falls the last Saturday and Sunday of October.
It attracts a large number of tourists who wish to sample Sibillini’s chestnuts.
Throughout the period of harvesting, our Hotel organises tours, tasting and guided visits to our chestnut grove.

In Winter one of the most recurring activities in the Sibillini area is the snowshoeing. Our Hotel can provide snowshoes, rackets and a certified guide on request.

Our territory offers different itineraries and one of these is the snowshoeing on Piano della Gardosa in Foce di Montemonaco, in the central-Adriatic area of the National Park of Monti Sibillini. No doubt the scenery is spectacular with peaks over 2000 metres high.

The route starts about 200 mt after the small square of the little village Foce. You can immediately feel the “majesty” of the nature. There is a wide valley without vegetation while at its edges the forest goes up and thickens with a great visual impact. The itinerary is not marked but it’s very clear.
